Composer, Translator, Dreamer
Born in the coastal city of Al-Mina
in North Lebanon, Edward Bendaly pursued studies in Chemistry, French, and
Translation. A master of seven languages and their literary worlds, he stood
among the pioneers who translated the Holy Koran into both English and French
bridging sacred meaning across cultures. Edward lived as a dreamer; his heart
tuned to the rhythms of creation. For seventy years, he carried the flame of
artistic devotion until his passing on December 13, 1984, following a quiet
struggle with illness. He was laid to rest in his hometown, at the Greek
Orthodox cemetery, leaving behind a legacy not only of music and language, but
of love. He is survived by a family of three sons and nine daughters, each
bearing the spark of his glory an inheritance of spirit, creativity, and
enduring light.
